John F. Kveton, MD

John F. Kveton MD is an internationally recognized neurotologist who has practiced in Connecticut since 1989 when he joined the Section of Otolaryngology at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Kveton received his MD degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his surgical internship and otolaryngology residency at Yale New Haven Medical Center before working as a neurotology fellow at the EAR Foundation with Michael Glasscock, M.D. from 1982 to 1983. As a faculty member at St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Kveton performed the first cochlear implant in St. Louis in 1984. He founded the cochlear implant program at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts, and developed the first skull base surgical team at that clinic. Dr. Kveton returned to Yale in 1989 and remained on the fulltime faculty as Professor of Surgery/Otolaryngology and Professor of Neurosurgery until 2002. During that time he pioneered the use of hydroxyapatite cement in skull base surgery. Dr. Kveton remains active on the clinical faculty of the Section of Otolaryngology at Yale as a partner in Ear, Nose & Throat Medical and Surgical Group in the New Haven area.
Dr. Kveton has published close to 100 original articles, reviews, and book chapters and serves as an editorial reviewer for several medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Laryngoscope, and Otology & Neurotology. Dr. Kveton is a frequent lecturer nationally. He has served as a Senior Examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology and was a founding examiner for the Neurotology Subcertification Board. Dr. Kveton has served as president of the CT ENT Society and New England Otolaryngological Society, as well as numerous professional committees. Dr. Kveton has been recognized in the Best Doctors in the U.S. and Best Doctors in the New York Metro Region since 1997.
