Thierry Morlet, PhD is the Head of the Auditory Physiology and Psychoacoutics Laboratory at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children (Wilmington, DE) and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Delaware.
Dr. Morlet earned his PhD in the neuroscience program at the University of Lyon in France in 1997. He is a neuroscientist whose area of expertise is human auditory physiology. Dr. Morlet has extensively studied otoacoustic emissions and the efferent auditory pathways in the normally functioning and diseased auditory systems of children and adults. He is a member of the Delaware newborn hearing screening committee and Web Assistant Editor to the scientific website www.otoemissions.org. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 articles. The fundamental studies at the Auditory Physiology and Psychoacoustics Laboratory involve research on the development of cochlear mechanisms and afferent and efferent auditory pathways. Clinical implications include diagnosis and management of children with Auditory Processing Disorders, children presenting with Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder, and of children with various inner ear malformations such as an Enlarged Vestibular Aqueduct, improvement of newborn hearing screening program, prevention of ototoxic effects of chemotherapy in children, innovation in testing protocols used in the Audiology clinic and education about noise-induced hearing loss in children.
