The Journal of Medical Speech-Language Pathology publishes peer-reviewed clinical and research articles, clinical notes, tutorials, dialog, and letters that are relevant to clinicians and researchers interested in human communication and its disorders as it is studies and practiced in a health care or medical orientation. This includes the full spectrum of the developmental life span from pediatric concerns to issues of the elderly.

Relevant topics include but are not limited to aphasia, swallowing disorders, right hemisphere syndrome, spinal cord injury, dementia, ventilator-dependent patients, apraxia of speech, dysarthria, head and neck postsurgical conditions, HIV and auto-immune disorders, traumatic brain injury, genetic disorders, voice and laryngeal function, fetal alcohol and substance abuse conditions, trachea-esophageal puncture, cranio-facial disorders, and developmental disabilities.
