Overview
Hearing remains the only human sense that can be restored if damaged. Thus, cochlear implants and other implantable hearing mechanisms have become more prevalent solutions to modern-day hearing trauma, making it imperative for clinicians to gain expertise on the subject. Michael J. Ruckenstein, MD, is professor and vice chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where he directs the residency training program, the Dizziness and Balance Center, and the Center for Implantable Hearing Devices.
